Theres a lot of hype around Twitter and LInkedIn for job searching right now, and they are good vehicles, but Facebook shouldnt be ruled out as a very viable option. And since Facebook is the third largest country in the world, you may as well use it for what it has to offer.
If you log on and search the term career, you get 8700 results. Its almost staggering.
And you you get a little more specific in your search terms, its likely you can start searching through companies and job types to. Its a great way to research companies, see who their fans are (who are mostly employees - see if you know anyone) and check out what corporate networks people in your field belong to. There are hundreds of possibilities and if you spend much time on Facebook, you already know how to work their search engine. If you see pages that are interesting, get involved in the conversations or post a question. Also, if you see people in your field or people who are already working at a company youve got your eye on, make contact with them on a casual basis. |
